CBS BOARD MEETING – JANUARY 8, 2018

Jeff Seidenstein gave his treasurer’s report. He noted that we still need to raise money for our increased rent.

Karen Friedman did a final walk-through of the MPB with a Schukett representative. They gave us the fridge, microwave, and coffee maker; these items did not belong to Schukett.

Stan Springer had an entry keypad put on the CBS door. The Board will defer to the Facilities committee’s decision about who will be given an entry code.

David Gurvis is sending handouts and minutes from the congregational meeting to families who did not attend.

Charlene Pfenninger researched the clergy hiring process. A clergy hiring committee is being put together. Several Board members are reaching out to contacts who may be able to help us find a cantor or cantorial soloist for High Holy Day services.

Rabbi Halpern reported that he is meeting with the JCRC to talk about countering orthodox extreme influence on the Indiana government.

A Facilities committee has been formed with three chairs: Ed Chandler, Jerry Lande, and Marvin Friedman. The congregation will need to make it permanent at the annual meeting. The Board approved $500 for the committee to spend fixing small things around the building since this was not built into our budget for this year.

The Board is looking into having an open house this spring after we are fully moved in and have decorated and fixed things in the building.

The Board discussed the possibility of starting a youth group at CBS or sharing one with Shaarey Tefillah.

All of the book plates for prayer books have been printed and will be in books soon.

The Board is looking into starting a scholarship program for camp and having Jeremy Klotz from GUCI come speak.
