CBS BOARD MINUTES – FEBRUARY 12, 2018

Jeff Seidenstein gave his Treasurer’s report. We have raised enough money to cover the extra building costs for this year, so we are doing well against our budget. The Finance committee is currently researching online payment systems. Jeff sent letters to everyone in the congregation to let them know how much they donated in 2017.

The policies committee met in February to discuss and update our current committee protocols. Cindy is picking people to serve on a strategic plan committee.

The Facilities committee will discuss the best way to give necessary people access to the building. They also had safety and kitchen issues taken care of. We will have a diverter installed to fix the HVAC issue.

Charlene Pfenninger and Kathy Gross will be in charge of synagogue décor. Larry Rockafellow has fabric to do reupholstering.

A search committee has been formed to look for a new clergy member. The Board discussed ways that the committee can remain transparent about their efforts.

Charlene and Lonnie Graul are helping the Worship committee contact possible cantorial soloists/cantors for High Holy Days services.

The Board decided that if services need to be canceled due to weather, they will send preliminary warning emails to the congregation and call it by 1 p.m. the day of services.

The annual meeting will be at 4 p.m. on June 10 at CBS.

Rachel will search for volunteers to head a Fundraising committee. Gail Chandler has taken over onegs. She has asked every committee to do an oneg every year.

We are expanding services! Starting in June, the Worship committee recommends that we do a dinner pitch-in on first Friday, traditional Shabbat on second Fridays with a special theme, traditional Shabbat on third Fridays, and traditional Shabbat on fourth Fridays with a special sponsor/recognition. The occasional fifth Fridays would be Tot Shabbats. These ideas have not been set in stone. Board members doing announcements will help set up and take down.

Kathy Gross offered the congregation a piano. The Board is looking into the logistics of getting it.

Lonnie will contact the Membership committee to discuss survey results. Jeff and the Finance committee will discuss scholarships for our kids to attend GUCI. Labels have been put in the prayer books.

Committees should submit next year’s budgets to the Finance committee by the end of March. The Board will approve the budgets in May.
