CBS BOARD MEETING – NOVEMBER 13, 2017

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Treasurer Jeff Seidenstein informed the Board that Lu Cohen will pick up mail from the CBS mailbox and that Lee Manders has helped bring our financial records up to date. Jeff is developing a template for the next year’s budget approval process.

CBS expects to have 85 member households this year.

Vice President Beth Lande is working to update our insurance policies as we transition into the new building.

Rabbi Halpern informed the Board of his plans to attend the Carmel Interfaith Thanksgiving service on November 19. He currently has 5 confirmation students with the possibility of 2 more. He also has 3 beginning Hebrew students. His new bat mitzvah student, Iris Epstein, has scheduled her bat mitzvah for May, 2020.

Martin Bard is moving and has resigned his Board position. Corey Gilman will replace him.

Additional support is required for Shabbat services and onegs. Some of this need will be alleviated once we move into the new building, where chairs will stay set up and we have a place to store Shabbat items. In the interim, Board members will volunteer to split duties to help Mickie Gurvis and Diane Graul.

The Board voted to take the lease at 849 W. 96th Street. Final details on moving are being finalized. As soon as the new insurance is in place, we schedule the move. The congregation will form a facilities/building committee.

Rabbi Halpern currently has a cell phone he answers on behalf of the congregation. The Board is looking into ways to update this technology.
